2 pounds ground bison or beef 1 package of Cucina Aurora Toasted Onion Dip Mix 2 large Red Onions 2 TBSP Hot Pepper Olive Oil 1/2 cup of your favorite BBQ sauce 4-8 slices sharp cheddar cheese Whole Wheat or Gluten Free burger buns
In a large bowl knead together meat, and onion dip mix until fully incorporated. Set aside.
In a large skillet heat olive oil. Add sliced onion cooking on medium-high heat until they start to brown but not burn. Remove from heat, cover and set aside.
Heat a flat griddle pan or large frying pan to high temperature. Spray with non-stick spray.
Using your hands shape the prepared meat into a ball about 1/4lb of meat.
Put the ball in the center of the hot pan. cover with a piece of parchment paper and gently smash the ball into a flat patty using the base of a jar, or bowl.
Cook for 2 minutes or until edges are sizzling before flipping over and continue to cook for about 2-3 minutes until desired temp.
in the last 30 seconds of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty before putting on the bun.
Layer the bottom side of a bun with lettuce and tomato then place the burger on top, and add BBQ Sauce. Top with caramelized onions. Enjoy immediately!
